Office Tour

Check-In

At the front desk you will be greeted by our friendly receptionist, and use our automated check-in system at the computer monitor as you enter the office. The computerized system informs us in the treatment area that you are here and waiting. It also displays why you are here, so that we can be prepared for your visit. With this system, we are able to check:

  • How long our patients are in the waiting area
  • How long specific procedures take to perform so we can plan our schedule most efficiently
  • Documentation of each visit

Waiting Area

While you wait, please enjoy a cup of organic and fair trade coffee, tea or hot chocolate from our new Keurig machine in the waiting room. We also have interesting magazines and books that Dr. Roberts updates so that over the period you spend with us, you will find both educational and entertaining material for you and your children. Tavern Puzzles are also provided for testing your mind, and a play area is there to entertain the kids. In addition to these materials, we have provided educational materials on orthodontics.

The waiting area is also equipped with wireless internet if you would rather bring your own laptop to use while you wait.

And parents, you do not have to stay in the waiting room! If you prefer to come back with your child during visits, you are welcomed and encouraged to come back to the clinic.

Clinic Area

The clinic is an “open bay” concept. The open bay provides a warm, open atmosphere. Children enjoy looking around and seeing other friends in treatment. We listen to music, stir conversation, and have fun. The new computers between the chairs are part of our paperless office-wide information management system, on which we can display your entire chart: radiographs, photographs, treatment plan, and any other piece of information needed at the time of your or your child’s visit.

Digital X-Rays

Our office is implementing one of the most technologically advanced digital two dimensional x-ray machines available. The advantages of digital x-rays are numerous:

  1. This method utilizes 4 to 5 times less radiation than traditional x-rays.
  2. Digital x-rays yield high quality images.
  3. Digital x-rays do not use any film or developing chemicals, minimizing waste and decreasing our environmental impact.
  4. The system stores your x-rays directly into your digital file, so that there is no film that can be lost, misplaced, or mislabeled.
  5. Copies are easy to generate: if your dentist wants to see your x-rays, he or she will have secure password protected internet access to your images through our website, or we can simply print out a high quality copy for you to take with you.

Sterilization

Dr. Roberts feels strongly about infection control and has equipped the office as such – for your peace of mind and safety. In our office, all instruments are “autoclaved,” which means that all the instruments we use during your visit come directly to your chair completely sterilized and are unwrapped in front of you. After each visit, the instruments go through a complete sterilization process: they are initially rinsed using an ultra-sonic treatment; then, they go through a water rinse; and finally, they go into the autoclave for complete sterilization.

An autoclave is a pressurized medical device designed to heat sterilizing solutions above their boiling point to achieve sterilization. A constant sterilization monitoring system is in place. This consists of heat sensitive tape to insure that the proper temperatures are reached in the autoclave every time. In addition, spore strips are also used in every sterilization cycle and sent to an outside lab for evaluation as further insurance that we are indeed providing the cleanest environment possible.

You cannot find a more high-tech, sterile delivery system than this!
