According to the U.S. Department of Education, 94% of teachers reach into their own pockets to purchase supplies for their students. Of that 94%, NEA.org reports that the average amount spent is between $500 and $700 each year.
Blue Ridge Orthodontics supports the educators of our community and we’re giving back to help teachers prepare for the school year – without needing to pull out their own credit cards. We’ll pick four pre-k through high school educators from Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, and Transylvania counties. Each teacher selected will receive a $500 Amazon gift card. We’ll announce the winning teachers on August 1st.
In addition, we’ll draw a name from everyone who votes and one participant will receive a $50 Amazon gift card to say thanks for helping us support local educators.
In addition to financial contributions, the entire BRO team gets involved by volunteering our time, energy and expertise to worthwhile causes. Blue Ridge Orthodontics is also committed to making positive “green” changes in our office and supporting environmental initiatives across our community.
We welcome suggestions from our patients, their families and the community at large about where to expand BRO’s charitable support.
In April, we were honored to donate $2,500 to the Mobility Matters Foundation.
Mobility Matters works to create a space for those who have limited access to therapy services and those who need assistance with mobility or accessibility related obstacles such as: wheelchair evaluations, transportation and financial barriers, and coordination of services.
