Blue Ridge Orthodontics news August 2024

You nominated your favorite local teachers.

We’d like to recognize them.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, 94% of teachers reach into their own pockets to purchase supplies for their students. Of that 94%, NEA.org reports that the average amount spent is around $500+ each year.

In an effort to support a handful of local teacher, we’ve donated $500 to four local teachers who have a big impact on our community. The winners are:

1. DAWN HENSLEY | West Buncombe Elementary

2. SAM RARDIN | Francine Delaney New School for Children

3. GENEE DALTON | Edneyville Elementary

4. JOHN JACKSON | Valley Springs Middle School

We’re proud to support the WNC community

Invest in yourself this year and start your 2024 off with a self-care spa trip. Shoji Spa & Retreat is Asheville’s premier Japanese-inspired spa and retreat. They offer everything from a stunning tree-top sauna to relaxing world-class massage packages. This is the perfect gift to start off your new year. This gift is worth an estimated $400.

We are also proud to sponsor our patients and patients’ causes. If you have an organization or cause that is looking for support, we welcome you to fill out a sponsorship request form on our website.

In addition to financial contributions, the entire BRO team gets involved by volunteering our time, energy and expertise to worthwhile causes. Blue Ridge Orthodontics is also committed to making positive “green” changes in our office and supporting environmental initiatives across our community.

We welcome suggestions from our patients, their families and the community at large about where to expand BRO’s charitable support.

back-to-school orthodontic tips

Starting a new school year comes with a lot of change; a new classroom, classmates, and teacher, different extracurriculars and new schedules. If your child started orthodontic treatment over the summer, going back to school with braces or Invisalign adds more newness to the daily routine. Here are our tips for an easier back-to-school experience with your braces or Invisalign.

  1. Keep your aligner case on hand: Carrying your aligner case with you gives you a reliable place to store your Invisalign trays so they are easier to keep track of.
  2. Carry your brush, toothpaste floss close by: Keeping your tooth brush, tooth paste and floss in a backpack, satchel or purse means that the items will be on hand when they’re needed.
  3. Don’t chew on pens and pencils: These objects can put pressure on your brackets and loosen or pop them off your teeth. Popped brackets mean emergency ortho appointments, and no one wants that!

We’ll be tallying up entries according to the following breakdown:

  • 1 entry point for a Facebook check-in at any BRO location or event
  • 2 entry points for completing your post-visit survey
  • 3 entry points for a Google review for your office location: Asheville, Brevard, or Hendersonville
  • 5 entry points for referring a friend or family member

Entries are unlimited. You know you want to win!
