Each week we will spotlight one of our talented team members here at Blue Ridge Orthodontics. This week’s BRO spotlight focuses on one of our Orthodontic Assistants that you may find around our Hendersonville location!

This team member is super adventurous and loves to try new things, she has two sweet fur babies, and she has been in 3 very different roles in her 5 years at BRO! Fun Fact about you:

I’m constantly on a mission to try something new (except foods, I’m such a picky eater) Crafting is my absolute favorite, I’ve tried almost everything under the sun (knitting, crochet, painting watercolor, acrylic, oil, photography, embroidery, right now my main craft is Jewelry, specifically polymer clay jewelry.)

Tell us about your role at BRO:

I started with BRO on September 11th, 2017, the very first day in the new Asheville location! I started with BRO as a Front Desk Coordinator in Asheville, I then switched to Financial Coordinator, and finally made my way home to Orthodontic Assistant. Assisting is SO fun. I really enjoy working alongside our amazing Doctors to help achieve beautiful smiles for our patients. As for my daily duties, I grab patients throughout the day, make retainers, Order for clinics in our Hendersonville location, upload patient records, and I make the schedule for our Asheville Clinic girls. Working as an Assistant is constantly changing, adapting, and learning new techniques. I could not ask for a better Career.

What are 3 words you would use to describe BRO?

BRO is expanding, devoted, and flourishing. I’ve seen BRO go through several seasons of change, and the season we are in right now has been the best yet! I love seeing change for the better!

What is your favorite aspect about BRO?

I love that BRO has always watered my knowledge seed. I always want to be learning and growing for the better, and Dr. Roberts, Schuler, Griffeth, Giltner, Kenning, and Joe have all encouraged and continue to teach me anything and everything that they know.

Where would we typically find you outside of BRO?

When I’m not at work I’m most likely at home with my husband, Tyler. My Golden Retriever Bocephus, and my cat Tooty. Both Tyler and I love to play video games, so we wind down at night playing on our PCs next to each other. If we are not at our computers, we are most likely making art! If I’m not at home, just go to Target… I’m probably at Target…

This team member got to ride an interesting animal at the Knoxville Zoo, her favorite part about work is the time she gets to spend laughing with her coworkers, and she loves to visit local Western, NC spots! So, are you ready to check out what makes this team member so special?

Everyone, Meet Mattea!

What is the most unusual or interesting thing you’ve ever done?

When I went to the Knoxville Zoo, I got to ride a camel, the most interesting ride I’ve ever had!

Tell us about your role at BRO:

While working in the phones room I am scheduling new patients, rescheduling appointments, taking payments, calling & confirming Oral Surgery appointments, sending letters to DDS about mutual patients when they have either started or finished treatment. Working Check-In/Check-Out – greeting patients, making them feel welcome, checking them in, scheduling their next appointments, gathering any additional information before their appointment.

What are 3 words you would use to describe BRO?

Loyal – to patients & employees. Goal Oriented – once BRO sets a goal, nothing will stop them to make sure that goal is reached! Charitable – BRO has always loved giving back to the community who made BRO what it is today!

What is your favorite aspect about BRO?

My favorite aspect about BRO is when I come to work I know that I will have so much fun. I love all my coworkers because we are always trying to make each other laugh & make the most out of our day all while giving patients the best care!

Where would we typically find you outside of BRO?

You can find me hanging with my best friend & her adorable 10 month old son! Facetiming my 4 month old nephew! Walking around the Biltmore House grounds, I love seeing it every season! Me and my sisters love going to Dollywood, we try to go as much as we can to enjoy all the different events that they have going on, we are planning to go next weekend for the Flower & Food Festival! Or dreaming of my next trip to Disney, going to Disneyland the end of the month, it will be my first time to California & I cannot wait!!!

Fun Fact about you:

I love crafting! Right now my craft of choice is crochet, but I’ve tried literally every craft under the sun. I also made a lava lamp costume for our Vision Summit this year, complete with flashing lights and balloons.

What is the most unusual or interesting thing you’ve ever done?

My husband and I just went on a cruise early April and played with sloths and monkeys! Another fun fact, my husband won the Royal Caribbean cruise in a poker game (it was completely free!)

Tell us about your role at BRO:

Working as a front desk coordinator I help answer incoming calls, schedule future appointments and check in patients at the front. All front desk coordinators work in these positions, but you’ll see me most often at the check in counter in Asheville.

What are 3 words you would use to describe BRO?

Family, Fun, Above-and-Beyond

What is your favorite aspect about BRO?

I can just come into work every day and know I’m going to smile, laugh and have a good time. I love everyone I work with and that comes through with patient care too! I’m so happy to be here and I make sure all of our patients share that feeling as well.

Where would we typically find you outside of BRO?

Probably just at my house! I am a homebody, I love spending time with my husband and two dogs. Plus my apartment has a pool so why would I ever leave?

Fun fact about you:

Fun fact about me is I am a very fun and outgoing person, a loving mother of two beautiful children Kassidy (12) and Kingston (6). I enjoy traveling and spending time with them when I am not working. I also have a very contagious laugh that everybody loves.

What is the most unusual or interesting thing you’ve done?

The most interesting thing that I have done was give birth to my son at 26 weeks old. He weighed 1lb .7 ounces. Watching him grow and exceed doctors expectations has been an amazing journey.

What are 3 words you would use to describe BRO?

I would describe BRO as fun, caring, and family oriented

What is your favorite aspect about BRO?

My favorite aspect about BRO is they give you the opportunity to learn and grow with them and everybody loves one another genuinely.

Where would we typically find you outside of BRO?

If I’m not at BRO you can find me at my other job (Cornerstone Restaurant) or on the road traveling for my daughter’s cheerleading competitions.

Everyone, Meet Dr. Griffeth!

Fun Fact about you:

I am a morning person and probably go to sleep before your grandparents.

What is the most unusual or interesting thing you’ve ever done?

I participated in the American Ninja Warrior show in 2017. They didn’t air my run (although I wore my dental white coat and American Flag shorts), but I did pretty well; just missed the finals. The best part was discovering the whole “ninja” community. It really is full of a bunch of incredible people.

Tell us about your role at BRO:

I get to make decisions about how to accomplish treatment goals for our patients and the best way to reach those goals each time they come to the office. It’s an absolute blast. I appreciate the trust patients give me to manage their care.

What are 3 words you would use to describe BRO?

Family. Heterogenous. Striving.

What is your favorite aspect about BRO?

There’s two things that come to mind. First is the people that work at BRO. We have a culture that is rich with positivity, selflessness and excellence. Secondly, I love how BRO has excellent team members employed to manage important aspects of running the practice and taking care of patient needs such as scheduling, finances, and communication. That allows me to focus my attention on providing excellent care to the patients.

Where would we typically find you outside of BRO?

Anywhere with family! I have a wonderful wife and three littles and I soak up every minute with them. If I break away from them you can find me in the gym, on a mountain bike trail or paddle-boarding on a river.
