At BRO, our focus is changing your smile to the healthy, straight, beautiful one that you’ve always wanted. And we understand that choosing orthodontic care is a big decision.

What services do we offer?

ORTHODONTICS

Braces

braces in ashevilleWhen people think about orthodontics, they often think of braces. Traditional metal braces remain one of the most effective way to straighten smiles and correct bite issues.

Braces work by attaching a small metal bracket to the front of each tooth. One of our orthodontists will then run a thin wire through each of these brackets to connect all of the teeth and gradually shift them into place.

Rubber bands are added to the brackets – in hues that patients can choose to create a uniquely colorful smile – to further assist with shifting the teeth and jaws. Patients come back to the office every 8 to 12 weeks, so our orthodontists can adjust the wires. This process applies a gentle pressure that moves the teeth into alignment over time. Invisalign

Invisalign ImagesInvisalign uses virtually invisible aligners or trays to gradually move your teeth into place for a beautiful smile. After you receive a 3D, digital scan of your smile, our team of doctors will create a treatment plan for you. With their guidance and the use of unique-to-you clean aligners, your teeth will be guided into place for a straighter healthier smile. Our doctors will tell you how long to wear each tray — usually one or two weeks — and when to switch to the next one.

Invisalign has many benefits. Orthodontics have changed – Invisalign is more discreet than traditional metal braces. You will also be able to remove your aligners. Have a big presentation, an interview, need to play a wind instrument, or want to chow down on a crunchy apple? Just remove your aligners and put them back in when you’re done. Invisalign also required few appointments because you make the adjustments at home by changing your trays instead of needing one of our orthodontists to adjust the wires on your braces.

When you get your 3D scan at your new patient consultation, a benefit of Invisalign is that we can also show you what your smile will look like at the end of treatment. Who doesn’t love a good reveal?

At-home, clear aligner treatment: Impressions & Impressions+

Impressions is BRO’s personal, at-home clear aligner treatment. Impressions is half the cost of Invisalign and takes half the time. The majority of treatment, aside from your initial scan and your final appointment, also takes place at home, with no other in-office appointments. Our team will mail all of your aligners – made from high-quality materials by Invisalign – right to your door.

Impressions+ is our hybrid clear aligner treatment. This is a great option for patients who don’t want to go through treatment entirely on their own. Impressions+ has some built-in office visits to guide you through treatment, but has fewer appointments than traditional Invisalign, making this a more affordable alternative to Invisalign.

Our at-home treatment provides another option for orthodontics for those who travel a lot, are stay at home parents and don’t want to bring kids to an appointment, have a hectic work schedule, or those who want to straighten their smiles at a lesser price point.

ORAL SURGERY

Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Four out of five young adults experience problems with their wisdom teeth. When left untreated these issues can manifest as more costly and risky conditions. Some of these are abscesses and other infections, periodontal disease, cavities, damage to adjacent teeth, crowding of the surrounding teeth, cyst or tumor development.

If your wisdom teeth have the space to grow in without issue, they can be left as they are and function like the rest of your teeth. If you are among those with wisdom teeth and without the necessary space at the back of the jaws to accommodate them, they can become impacted. “Impacted” means that your wisdom teeth are fully or partially stuck under tissue and gums.

Dental Extractions

A dental extraction is the complete removal, or extraction, of a tooth from its socket. This is sometimes referred to with the phrase “pulling” a tooth.

Teeth may require extraction for different reasons. These could include infection, tooth decay, gum disease, or injury. Not every tooth lasts a lifetime, and it is important to care for all our teeth – those that can remain intact and those that need extra attention.

If you’ve been told by your dentist that you need to have a tooth extracted, the first step is to set up a consultation. You can request a consultation here, or you can call us at 828.537.5338. Our scheduling team will find a time that is best for your consultation. If you have had recent x-rays taken by your dentist, the first consultation can take place virtually. If you do not have recent x-rays, your consultation will need to happen in-person at our office in order for x-rays to be taken. These x-rays are essential for your oral surgeon to confirm or diagnose the problem and plan the extraction.

Expose & Bond Procedure

Impacted teeth, like canines, need treatment to move them into proper placement. This is where the expose and bond procedure is needed. The procedure involves the oral surgeon making a small incision through the gums and placing a bracket on the impacted tooth. Next a small wire or chain (called an archwire) is connected from the bracket to a nearby tooth. Then the incision is usually closed, only leaving the archwire exposed. Over time, your orthodontist will use the anchor tooth, archwire and tension between the two to gradually move the impacted tooth into position.

This procedure generally requires the coordination of treatment from both an oral surgeon and an orthodontist – and we have both of those right here at Blue Ridge Orthodontics.
