BRO Celebrates Library Card Sign-Up Month in NC
Why do we love libraries? Even though the internet has changed how many of us approach information gathering and research, there’s something special about spending time in a great library. Surrounded by the smell of old books, it can be easy to spend hours curled up with a good book deep in those stacks. In order to honor these amazing institutions, we are going to be celebrating National Library Card Sign-up Month this September!
For the staff at Blue Ridge Orthodontics, our goal is to encourage everyone in Western North Carolina who doesn’t have a library card to sign up for one this month.
During the whole month of September, anyone who brings a library card (new or old) to a new patient appointment will get $300 off comprehensive treatment or Impressions – the new Blue Ridge Orthodontics’ at-home system that costs 50% less and takes about half the time of traditional treatment.
In addition, we will buy a book for a library in Asheville, Hendersonville or Brevard for every person who brings a local library card to an appointment.
What Do Beautiful Smiles & Library Books Have in Common?
So why is an orthodontist practice running a library card special? At BRO, we value life-long learning, and recent research has shown that improving your smile and reading books can lead to greater confidence and more positivity in your everyday life. Studies also indicate that more young people are finding their way into the library, and we want to do our part to encourage this trend in Western North Carolina.
Visual learner? This infographic should illustrate our point even more clearly:
“What’s the connection between a straighter smile and reading? Research shows that improving your smile and reading books both make us feel better and more positive,” says Dr. Luke Roberts, Impressions and Blue Ridge Orthodontics’ founder. “So we’re excited to encourage more reading in our community during National Library Card Sign-up Month – and to contribute to our great Asheville, Hendersonville and Brevard libraries.”
Why Should You Read Books?
Would you call yourself a regular reader? Hopefully you do, because studies show that regular readers receive a significant number of benefits. Reading books on a regular basis can lead to:
- Improved writing skills
- Increased empathy
- Added knowledge and information
- Improved focus and concentration
- Increased creativity
- Enriched language and vocabulary
Why Should You Straighten Your Teeth?
Now that we have Impressions, it really has never been easier (or more affordable) to get the smile you have always wanted! We may be a bit biased, but straight teeth can lead to:
- Improved confidence
- Corrected speech impediments
- Improved digestion
- Decreased tooth decay and gum disease
- Better breath
- Stronger teeth
As we mentioned before, both reading and straight teeth produce some similar benefits that we want to highlight this month – those being a greater sense of well-being and a positive attitude.
Who wouldn’t like to feel that?
Conclusion
National Library Card Sign-up Month is a special event, and our goal is to encourage more people in Asheville, Hendersonville and Brevard to visit their local library. These institutions deserve our support – and you may be pleasantly surprised if it has been a while since you visited one.
