It’s all about treatment approach and time. Everyone’s smile is different. Cost is affected by how complex the issues are with your bite, how many challenges we need to address to get from today to that confident, healthy smile. If there is any other work needed – like with an oral surgeon or your general dentist – that can figure into your overall cost, too.
The best way for us to estimate your cost is to determine the treatment plan (or plans) that are right for you. And since initial consultations are complimentary at BRO, there’s no cost to you to find out more about your treatment options and costs.
Cost differences are more about the treatment approach and duration than about whether a BRO patient is an adult or a child.
Adults typically have a single phase of treatment. Children often need two phases of treatment, which represent two separate costs.
But early childhood intervention can actually save money in the long run. Many kids under 11 years old are not ready for treatment, but catching things earlier can avoid more extensive and costly treatment later. And there will be no charge after our initial consultation for follow-up observations until your child is ready for treatment. So the earlier, the better. We recommend the initial consultation by the age of seven.
This is often one of the first questions we get from people considering orthodontic treatment. Without having a consultation and looking at your or your child’s x-rays, we can’t provide an exact price. Each patient’s treatment costs differ with approach and treatment time. In most practices, the cost of Invisalign® is comparable to braces, but does cost slightly more. At Blue Ridge Orthodontics you’ll pay exactly the same price for Invisalign® and braces. We want you to be able to choose the treatment option that you are most comfortable with, not the lower-cost one.
Also, Invisalign treatment is covered by most dental insurance policies. When you come in for your first exam, we’ll verify any insurance benefits and develop your flexible payment plan.

For this to be applicable, potential patients will need to present their military ID or CAC card when they come into one of our orthodontic offices in Western North Carolina.
Blue Ridge Orthodontics accepts and works with most private dental insurance providers and we’re happy to talk with your insurance company to determine your exact benefits for orthodontic treatment. Usually if your insurance covers braces, it also will cover Invisalign and other types of orthodontic treatment.
